Toxic Contamination at Fairchild Air Force Base
Spokane is blessed or burdened (depending on perspective) with Fairchild AFB, the largest employer in Spokane County. Nominally a base for refueling tankers aircraft, Fairchild is also a highly contaminated Superfund site and houses the SERE program.
On July 29, 2017, twenty-seven committed souls braved the 92 degree heat at the main gate of Fairchild Air Force Base to share little known information about Fairchild. Organized by Spokane Veterans for Peace, we were young and old, male and female, religious and secular, black and white.
